Spatial expression profiles of MADS-box genes in floral organs of Japanese gentian. Semi-quantitative RT-PCR analysis was performed using total RNAs isolated from sepals, petals, stamens, and pistils of floral buds, and from leaves and stems. Expression profiles of 14 MADS-box genes were investigated: A-clade (GsAP1 and GsFUL), B-clade (GsAP3a, GsAP3b, GsTM6, GsPI1, GsPI2 and GsPI3), C-clade (GsAG1 and GsAG2), D-clade (GsSTK1), and E-clade (GsSEP1, GsSEP2 and GsSEP3) genes. Actin served as the reference gene. Gene names and cycle numbers are indicated at the left and right of panel, respectively
