B) Schematic diagram of the different Erv1 sequences found in different organisms. The grey region represents the most conserved region between different Erv1 sequences containing the redox centre, the FAD binding site and two conserved cysteine domains (CXXC and C-16-C). The location of the third cysteine pair differs between organisms which seems to be dependent on either a Mia40 protein being present or whether that Mia40 is essential or not. Abbreviations are the same as Figures 2 and 4.
