Description

LMA

Leaf mass per area (g/cm²)

The ratio of specific leaf weight to total leaf area.

LA

Total leaf area (cm2)

The sum of all leaf areas on the entire branches.

La

Single leaf area (cm2)

Average of the upper leaf area of the entire branches.

LT

Leaf thickness (cm)

The thickness of the leaf cross-section.

ET

Epidermal thickness (µm)

The thickness of the outermost part of the leaf.

MT

Mesophyll thickness (µm)

The thickness between the upper and lower epidermis, include the palisade tissue and the sponge tissue (Psammophyte sponge tissue is specialized as a water-storing tissue composed of large parenchyma cells [52,53,54]).

SD

Stomata density (mm-²)

The number of stomata per unit area.

SL

Stomata length (µm)

Average of the maximum length of the stomata.

WD

Wood density (g/ml)

The ratio of stem segment mass and volume.

SA

Sapwood area (cm2)

The cross-sectional area at the very bottom of the branches.

CT

Cortical thickness (µm)

The thickness of the outermost part of the mature stem.

XS

Xylem area to sapwood area (%)

The ratio of stem xylem area to stem cross-sectional area.

PS

Pith area to sapwood area (%)

The ratio of stem pith area to stem cross-sectional area.

VD

Vessel density (mm-²)

The number of vessels per unit area.

VS

Vessel size (µm)

Average of the maximum length of the vessel.
