Relationship between stress signalling and plant growth. When the Ae. tauschii under shading stress with wheat, the response to light may mainly adopt two modes. On the one hand, to avoid the harsh environment of shade, plants grow taller and longer by increasing energy supply (carbon metabolism). On the other hand, stress defence is activated, and growth is inhibited. Abiotic stress usually hinders plant growth by inhibiting cell division and cell expansion, such as reducing tillers to a certain extent
