Exogenous melatonin treatment had significant preventive and therapeutic effects for CGMMV infection. A Symptoms caused by the effects of melatonin on early stage CGMMV infection at 9 dpi in tobacco. CGMMV CP accumulation in systemically infected leaves at 9 dpi was examined using qRT-PCR (B) and Western blotting (C) with CGMMV CP antibody. Bars are SEM from three biological repeats. Significant differences were evaluated using a two-sample unequal variance t-test (*P < 0.05; **P < 0.01). Full-length blots/gels are presented in Supplementary Fig. 5
