Sorbitol stress does not inhibit cell growth during G1. Growth rates in terms of increase in cell volume were monitored during a lag phase and a mid-G1 phase when cells of three genotypes (wild type, phs1 mutant, a complementation line) were cultured in the presence of 0 M, 0.2 M, or 0.3 M sorbitol.
