Synthesis strategy of allotetraploid Cucumis ×hytivus. The allotetraploid Cucumis ×hytivus (HHCC, 2n = 4x = 38) was synthesize through interspecific hybridization between cucumber (Cucumis sativus L. ‘BejingJietou’, CC, 2n = 2x = 14) and its sister species C. hystrix (HH, 2n = 2x = 24) followed by chromosome doubling. Mitotic metaphase chromosome patterns with 45S FISH signals were shown for each species
