Mutations in NAM-A1 lead to a significant delay in peduncle senescence in the field. TILLING lines K1107 and K2711 were scored for flag leaf (a) and peduncle (b) senescence in the field across three years. The Y-axis shows days to flag leaf (a) or peduncle (b) senescence after heading. Peduncle chlorophyll content (c) was quantified at 33 and 49 days after anthesis (DAA) for the wild-type and mutant plants of each line in the 2018 field trial. SPAD measurements of flag leaf chlorophyll content (d) were carried out on the lines in 2018 throughout senescence. See methods for sample size each year. Statistical comparisons were carried out with a Student’s t-test for all panels except the SPAD time course, which used the Kruskal-Wallis Rank Sum test; *, p < 0.05; **, p < 0.01; ***, p < 0.001
