Phenotype and CAT activity for the nca1 mutants in response to salinity stress. The plants were hydroponically grown in an environment-controlled growth chamber until 3.5-leaf old (temperature: 30 °C day/25 °C night; light intensity: 600 μmol m− 2 s− 1; humidity: 60%), then treated with 150 mM NaCl. CAT activity was assayed at different times after the treatment (B) and the picture of the stressed leaves was taken at 5 days after the treatment (A). Data represent means ± SD of at least three replicate experiments. Different letters on the top of columns indicate significant difference at p < 0.05 according to Duncan’s multiple range test
