From: Phylogenetic relationship and domain organisation of SET domain proteins of Archaeplastida

Fig. 2

Phylogenetic tree of SET-domain proteins in Archaeplastida. The SET domain sequences of 251 proteins from 16 species are aligned using ClustalW. Phylogenetic analysis is performed using MEGA 7.0. SET domain proteins of Archaeplastida are divided into four distinct groups: E(z), Ash, Trx and Su(var)3–9 proteins. Branch nodes are colored distinctly for separate clade mentioned in the accompanying legends. The dark blue rectangle indicates E (z) group, Cyan blue triangle indicates Ash group, the Pink triangle indicates Trx group while green rectangle indicates Suv group. The evolutionary history is inferred by using the Maximum Likelihood method based on the JTT matrix-based model. The tree with the highest log likelihood (−39,445.1504) is shown. Initial trees for the heuristic search are obtained automatically by applying Neighbor-Join and BioNJ algorithms to a matrix of pairwise distances estimated using a JTT model, and then selecting the topology with superior log likelihood value
