Anthocyanins accumulate in maize BMS35S::R+35S::C1 cells in the dark. (A) Dark-grown BMS35S::R+35S::C1 cells expressing the R and C1 anthocyanin regulators from the CaMV 35S promoter accumulate anthocyanins. Transient expression of the R and C1 regulators in BMS cells by microprojectile bombardment induce anthocyanins in the dark (B) or the light (C). The magnification bars represent 200 μm. The bar in the inset DIC image is 20 μm.
