Letters A–F correspond to the nodes which states were reconstructed with ML and shown in the second panel. The plots show 95% highest posterior density intervals of relative likelihood for each state reconstructed in a given node. The percentage values are numbers of times a given state was reconstructed in a given node out of a sample of 180,000 phylogenetic trees from the Bayesian analysis. Dashed line marks a branch for which MP returned three equally likely states (therophyte, hemicryptophyte, chamaephyte)
