A Pearson correlation was calculated for recorded physiological characteristics for all plants sampled and for wall-bound and soluble phenolics (quantified by GC/MS) and phytohormones (quantified by LC/MS) assayed from a subset of samples. The R function hclust was used to hierarchically cluster these correlations. FDR-adjusted p-values (BH) are below the diagonal and comparisons with an X through them fail to meet the cutoff for alpha = 0.05
