VvNPF6.5 is a pH dependent dual-affinity nitrate transporter. a and b, Nitrate uptake activity of VvNPF6.5-, AtCHL1-, or H2O-injected oocytes at pH 5.5. Oocytes were incubated with 10 mM 15NO3− (a) or 0.25 mM 15NO3− (b) at pH 5.5 for 3 h. 15N retained in the oocytes was measured as described in methods.
