Distribution of genes related to different TCA components and their amino acid sequence similarity analysis. The circle indicates the enzyme complex. The maize TCA genes were anchored to each enzyme complex or subunit based on the highest score in BLASTP against Arabidopsis TCA proteins. The two linked genes indicate that their aligned amino acid sequences account for more than 70% of the longer protein, and the identity of the aligned regions is greater than 70%. Proteins localized in mitochondria are shown in red font, and the localization information for all TCA proteins is derived from homologous proteins in Arabidopsis (Cavalcanti et al., 2014)
