Classification of the total of 865 MIKCC proteins based on phylogenetic analysis. The MIKCC proteins were divided into 13 subfamilies: AG, AGL6, AGL12, AGL15, AGL17, BS, DEF/GLO, FLC, SEP, SQUA, SVP, TM3/SOC1 and TM8. The phylogenetic tree was constructed by MEGA 7 [33] with the NJ method based on alignments by MAFFT 7 [34]. The phylogenetic tree containing bootstrap values can be observed in Additional file 6: Figure S4
