From: Comparative transcriptome analyses on terpenoids metabolism in field- and mountain-cultivated ginseng roots

Fig. 5

Validations of transcriptome analyses of the two types of ginseng root. a Expression levels of nine randomly selected differentially expressed genes (DEGs) determined by qRT-PCR. Gene expressions calculated by fold change of 2 – (ΔCtMCG-ΔCtFCG) below (the left side six columns) and above (the right side three columns) 1.0 indicated those genes being significantly higher-expressed in field- and mountain-cultivated ginseng (FCG and MCG) roots, respectively. FDPS, farnesyl diphosphate synthase; HMGCR, hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA reductase; SQLE, squalene monooxygenase; GA20ox, gibberellin 20-oxidase; GA3ox1, gibberellin 3-beta-dioxygenase; GA2ox, gibberellin 2-oxidase; VTE3, MPBQ/MSBQ methyltransferase; ABA2, xanthoxin dehydrogenase; (+)-ND, (+)-neomenthol dehydrogenase. b Contents of ABA and GA in the two types of ginseng root. Columns in green and yellow represent FCG and MCG roots, respectively. Contents of ABA and GA are expressed as ng/g f.w. (n = 3). “**” indicates extremely significant difference (P < 0.01)
