Proposed role of BdbZIP10 in response to paraquat-induced oxidative stress. Paraquat entry into plant chloroplasts results in production of reactive oxygen species, which in turn initiate protein kinase signaling pathways. Phosphorylation cascades activate transcription factors such as BdbZIP10. Overexpression of BdbZIP10 further upregulates genes controlling intracellular zinc transport, increasing activity of cytosolic and/or chloroplastic superoxide dismutases that have Zn2+ as a cofactor
