Identification and validation of pennycress genes with enriched expression in nectaries. Putative pennycress orthologs of Arabidopsis genes with known nectary-enriched expression were identified by BLASTP against translated contigs derived from RNA-seq. Semi-quantitative RT-PCR was used to verify these orthologs as shown in the left panel. The right panel was used to validate differential expression of several of these genes in immature (Stage 12) versus mature (Stage 15) flowers as identified by RNA-seq in this study.
