Phylogeny of MATE transporters in the tomato genome. All protein sequences of MATE transporters identified in the tomato genome (67 sequences), along the complete set in Arabidopsis thaliana (56 sequences) and other MATE transporters functionally characterized in other plant species (33 sequences). The analysis was conducted in MEGA7 [90] using Maximum Likelihood method with 1000 bootstraps. Branches are drawn to scale in the number of substitutions per site. Notice the five clear clades encompassing MATE with distinct functional properties
