Transcriptional expression profiles of genes involved in growth regulation after exposure to VOCs. qRT-PCR was performed with SYBR Green/Fluorescent qPCR master mix (Takara) on a Roche-480 system (Roche), and EF-1α was used as an internal reference. The relative expression levels of Nt-EXPA1 (a) , Nt-EXPA2 (b) and ACO-1 (c) were determined after exposure to VOCs by SYST2 alone or in combination with Rs. Similarly, the relative expression levels of Nt-EXPA1 (d) , Nt-EXPA2 (e) and ACO-1 (f) were determined after exposure to synthetic VOCs. Error bars indicate standard errors of the means. Different lower case letters above the error bars represent significant differences according to Duncan’s multiple-range test (P ≤ 0.05) using SPSS software (SPSS, Chicago, IL)
