Phylogenetic tree of hevein-like peptides, chitinases and lectins. Morintides and hevein-like peptides are clustered separately probably due to the distinct nature of their C-terminal domain. Morintides are clustered close to chitinases suggesting there is a close evolutionary relationship between them and that the C-terminal domain of morintides might be a remnant of chitinases
