Sequence alignment of precursors of hevein-like peptides. The overall precursor organization of hevein-like peptides is conserved and comprises a signal peptide, mature hevein-like peptide and a C-terminal domain. The length of the C-terminal domain is highly variable throughout the hevein-like peptide family. Morintides comprise a short C-terminal domain similar to gB1, a ginkgotide from G. biloba. This precursor organization is similar to 6C-hevein-like peptides and differs from hevein and Ee-CBP that comprise long C-terminal domains that encode for bioactive protein cargo
