Phylogenetic tree of CMLs. The phylogenetic tree shows presence of seven monophyletic groups of CMLs. The CMLs of lower eukaryotic plants were located at the base of the phylogenetic tree, indicating CMLs of higher plants have evolved from the common ancestor of basal lower eukaryotic lineage. The phylogenetic tree was constructed from the protein sequences of CMLs using the MEGA6 software
