Relative transcript levels of each gene in the internode (a) and flag leaf (b) tissues of waterlogged plants of cv. Harvest were expressed relative to that detected in the corresponding tissue of the control plants, which was arbitrarily set to a value of 1. Data are means of 3 to 4 independent biological replicates ± SE. The * and ○ symbols indicate statistically significant upregulation and downregulation of the taget genes in response to waterlogging, respectively, as compared to that of the control at P < 0.05. C3H2 was not analyzed as no transcript of this gene was detected in the internode (IN-2&3) and flag leaf tissues of wheat (see Additional file 6: Table S2)
