Silencing efficiency and specificity for target genes in silenced plants. Two-week-old tomato seedlings were infiltrated with agrobacteria carrying pTRV2-Sl-MMPs or pTRV2-GUS and leaf samples were collected at 4 weeks after agroinfiltration. Expression levels of each Sl-MMP genes in targeted and nontargeted Sl-MMP-silenced and non-silenced plants were analyzed by qRT-PCR and data obtained were normalized with actin transcript values. Data presented are the means ± SD from three independent experiments and different letters above the columns indicate significant differences at p < 0.05 level
