qRT-PCR analyses of miR172 target genes in panicles of wild-type and miR172b over-expression plants. Expression levels of each gene in various tissues were analyzed using a primer pair spanning the miR172 target site. For each gene, relative fold expression is shown by using the expression level detected in ≤ 0.5 cm long panicles of wild-type as the reference. The tissues where a significant increase or decrease of expression was detected in plants over-expressing miR172b compared to wild-type are indicated (* for p ≤ 0.05 and ** for p ≤ 0.01, based on student t-test).
