Total proteins, amino acids, reducing sugars, sucrose and chlorophyll content. Time course of the changes in the content of total proteins, amino acids, reducing sugars and sucrose in roots (A, C, E and G) and leaves (B, D, F, and H) and chlorophyll content in leaves (I) of Zea mays plants, previously grown in the absence of nitrogen for 17 days (T0) and incubated for further 6, 30 and 54 h in the absence (C) or presence of 10 mM NO3- (N). Values are the mean ± SE of three independent biological samples analyzed in triplicate (n = 9). Samples indicated with the same letters do not differ significantly according to Tukey's test (p < 0.01).
