Three-week-old rice seedlings were deprived of water for 15 days and then soluble sugars, proline and stomatal status were examined with leaf samples. Data are means ± SE of four independent experiments for (A) and three independent experiments for (C). Asterisks indicate significant difference between the WT and transgenic lines (*p <0.05; **p <0.01).
