Ethylene production after wounding. Ethylene release rate (nmol h-1 kgFW-1) of sliced tomatoes, represented by a mixture of all tissue types, for mature green (green), breaker (yellow) and red (red) fruit for a period of 200 min after wounding. Three different phases are observed: (1) Ethylene diffusion phase; (2) Autonomous ethylene production phase; (3) Wound induced ethylene production phase.
