Light-microscopy images of MB-stained transverse sections. Transverse sections of six-day-old maize root tips grown under control conditions (A, C) or in the presence of 200 mM NaCl in nutrient solution (B, D) for 48 h (A, B) and 96 h (C, D). The cortical cells were radially enlarged after stressed with 200 mM NaCl for 48 h and 96 h as compared with the control group. Photographs were taken under bright-field illumination.
