(A-B) Rate of wilting of wild-type (Col-0), mutant (hsi2-2), and 35S:HSI2 line (OEx1) treated with (+)-ABA (A) or the ABA analog PBI425 (B). (C) Recovery from drought upon re-watering (at 24 h after re-watering under control and PBI425 treatments). Three-week-old plants were root drenched with 0.05% ethanol as control treatment (left side), 30 μM ABA or 20 μM PBI425, dissolved in 0.05% ethanol (right side) to field capacity and watering was stopped thereafter. Data are presented as means of three replicates of 18 plants each ± standard error of means. In some cases where the standard errors are very small, the graph symbols may obscure the bars. These experiments were repeated at least twice with similar results.
