Expression patterns of aquaporin genes among various tissues in cotton. RT-PCR was performed to amplify aquaporin gene members in the PIP subfamily (A), TIP subfamily (B) and subfamilies of NIP, SIP, and XIP (C). The ubiquitin (UBQ) gene was used as a loading control for this experiment and some faint gDNA bands are indicated by arrows. Purity of total RNA was confirmed by a negative RT reaction (data not shown). yR: young root, mR: mature root, yL: young leaf, mL: mature leaf, st: stem, fb: 10 - 15 days post anthesis (DPA) fiber. SM denotes 100 bp DNA size marker.*: RT-PCR detects two members of aquaporin genes (see Table 3).
