Transcript abundance and silencing efficiency of MYC2 transcription factor in N. attenuata. Rosette stage leaves (n=3) of wild type N. attenuata plants were treated with WW (blue line) or WOS (red line) or left untreated (black) and transcript abundances (mean ± SE) of MYC2 TF were measured by microarrays in (A) treated and (B) untreated systemic leaves (data were extracted from a previously published microarray dataset by Kim et al. [53]). (C) Using Virus Induced Gene Silencing (VIGS), the accumulation of MYC2 transcripts were knocked down and the efficiency of silencing was determined by measuring the relative MYC2 transcript abundances (mean ± SE; n=5) in control and WOS-induced EV (solid line) and MYC2-VIGS (dashed) plants by qRT-PCR. Asterisks indicate statistically significant differences (ANOVA, P < 0.05).
